ShoeMinx Style Salute: Jill Biden’s Inaugural Look

Second Lady is No Second Banana When It Comes to Fashion

Overlooked in the End Of An Error glow, Second Lady Jill Biden is sure to get buttoned-up DC all hot and bothered.  Her husband (that would be vice-president Joe Biden) called her “drop-dead gorgeous.”  And MSNBC host Chris Matthews referred to her as the “best-looking campaigner in this race” during Obama’s presidential run.

Michelle Obama isn’t the only woman in the new administration smashing those stuffy, out-of-date notions that the only one way for political wives to dress is in the dreaded White House standard-issue uniform, or that women over the age of 30 should cover themselves in a burkha.

Blonde and bouncy in a cheerleader-y sort of way, Dr. Biden favors skirts and dresses that show a little leg yet still manages to look feminine and sexy in a tasteful, not bam-chica-wah-wah, way.  And she prefers heels to the First Lady’s flats.  ShoeMinx applauded the sassy stiletto boots Jill sported on inauguration day.

She was GORGeous in a scarlet red Reem Acra strapless gown at the Inauguration Ball that had some in the blogsphere up in arms about her bare upper half.  You know, because of her age.  At 57 she’s just a few years older than Madonna.  Seriously, if we ran five miles every day we’d want to show off the benefits of all that hard work, too.  She accessorized her look with a thin bracelet, long earrings and Kate Spade gold heels that she reportedly got at Peter Kate Shoes, a long-time favorite boutique in her home state of Delaware, on sale for $180.   Get a similar look with these Nine West ‘Mocha’ heels.

Jill is bringing sexy back to the beltway!

Ironically, while Michelle is getting invites to Fashion Week and is being hailed as fashion’s Wonder Woman, Jill actually has more industry cred.  According to an article in Vogue, she has always been interested in the world of fashion. Before she got her doctorate in education, she studied fashion merchandising in junior college. During her college years, she even did a bit of modeling for a local agency to make some extra cash. Her short modeling career ended up being the means to her meeting her future husband; an ad that she appeared in caught Joe’s eye and the rest, as they say, is history.
