From The Hills to Capital Hill? Perish the Thought!

The Hills reality star Heidi Montag, who endorses Republican candidate John McCain for president, apparently has her sights set on the White House. Asked prior to his formal announcement who he should add to the ticket for vice president, the wanna-be singer and Heidiwood designer said “I am McCain’s vice president! Go team!” Talk about “Overdosin’” on reality!

When told of her support, McCain responded to Time magazine, “I’m honored to have Heidi’s support and I want to assure her that I never miss an episode of ‘The Hills,’ especially since the new season started.” Way to pander for the youth vote, Mr. McCain.

After Sarah Palin got the VP nod, Heidi joked, “I can’t believe it. I’m really hurt. Blondes have more fun. I guess he doesn’t know that.” Heidi’s constant companion Spencer Pratt said, “Not picking Heidi for the vice president, it’s just cold.”

Can this Capital Hill drama get any more surreal?

Ignoring that pesky age requirement thing, Heidi’s qualifications to serve in the number twoposition are actually pretty favorable: she’s an attractive woman, which would appeal to conservative mouth piece Rush Limbaugh; her international experience is slim but she and Pratt are going to Iraq to visit the troops (no joke); she’s religious (”I have been the most religious person since I was 2 years old. I always felt this crazy connection to God.”); and she’s planning a lavish wedding so she’s pro-family. When you look at it, McCain could do worse than Heidi. Oh, wait he already did.

Heidi is “too busy” leaking more singles on iTunes to attend the GOP convention so we won’t get to see her on stage with Cindy McCain to compare outfits. Given her love of fashion and the GOP, we could totally see her glad-handing the party faithful in these Fendi (which she name drops in her single “Fashion”) rhinestone logo sandals. McCain-Montag 2008? There is a certain ring to it.
