Country Crooner Taylor Swift Collaborates on Clothing Line

Makes Money, Lives Better Thanks to Wal-Mart’s Low, Low Prices

What does country singer Taylor Swift have in common with all the Hills girls, Lindsay Lohan, Justin Timberlake, Hilary Duff and even gossip gangster Perez Hilton?  She’s the latest in a long line of celebrities to add an ubiquitous clothing line to her resume.   Even Tara Reid has one!  But before you groan and roll your eyes, Taylor is not walking down the dreaded celebrity-designer path and pretending to be a designer tolling away at a sewing machine and cutting patterns in a studio.

The Fearless singer, who shows up to red-carpet in everything from Balenciaga to Marchesa to Collette Dinnigan, is collaborating with label l.e.i. on a line of $14 dresses that will launch next month. At Wal-Mart, not Kitson, no less.  Hey, it worked for the Olsens.  Those nickels and dimes add up!

“I don’t look at it like I’m branching out as a designer. It’s not the Taylor Swift designer line or whatever,” she says. “I like people who have worked their entire lives to become designers. I think that they have their place as designers and I have my place as a musician, and I’m going to pretty much stick to that.”   Take note, Lauren Conrad, cause all those efforts to convince us that you’re a “real” designer are about as convincing as the so-called unscripted drama on The Hills and Heidi’s boobs.

Taylor is always so adorably girly-girl with a little touch of sparkle, like the silver glittery heels she paired with a purple Jay Godfrey Bruni Dress at the Grammy Nominations Concert Live, and since sundresses are her “favorite thing to wear,” it makes sense she’d lend her name (and no doubt, her earning power) to the brand.

Now tween girls everywhere can pick up a Taylor Swift-approved dress to go along with their Jonas Brothers poster, Hannah Montana doll and Mary-Kate and Ashley DVD on their next Wally World shopping trip. Oh, and a copy of Taylor’s latest CD, Fearless, of course.

Taylor admits to a love of heels and wanting to look bohemian in the summer. These boho fabulous peep-toes from Charles David fit the bill for those warm weather fashions.
