Cindy McCain’s $300,000 Outfit Could Defray the National Debt
McCain Campaign Should Hand Out Jewels Instead of Promises to Win Votes

One of the constant slings and arrows aimed at presidential candidate Barack Obama by his GOP opponents is the assertion that he is an elitist, while McCain supposedly represents the grit and gumption of the average working class American (this from a man who can’t keep track of exactly how many homes he has).
But many have noticed that First Lady Laura Bush and wanna-be First Lady Cindy McCain took the stage at the RNC in some pretty spiffy designer duds that looked more cocktail party than Grand Old Party. Thanks to the Vanity Fair fashion department, here is the price tag for their outfits:
Laura Bush
Oscar de la Renta suit: $2,500
Stuart Weitzman heels: $325
Pearl stud earrings: $600-$1,500
Total: Between $3,425 and $4,325
Cindy McCain
Oscar de la Renta dress: $3,000
Chanel J12 White Ceramic Watch: $4,500
Three-carat diamond earrings: $280,000
Four-strand pearl necklace: $11,000-$25,000
Shoes, designer unknown: $600
Total: Between $299,100 and $313,100
Basically, Cindy’s entire outfit could pay the yearly salary for five U.S. autoworkers. Is this what they mean by “trickle down economics?” Let’s hope John has a better economic policy for the nation than his wife’s “spend, spend, spend” money management plan.

Michelle Obama was en vogue in a floral kimono dress from It-designer Thakoon at the DNC. A dress in a similar style on eLuxury retails for $1,250. Michelle O paired her sophisticated sheath dress with simple black flats. Even factoring in the cost of designer shoes and jewelry, in the fashion race, the elitist shoes are on Cindy’s feet.
These beige Jasmay heels from Marciano and black Ariel peep toes by BCBG are both fiscally responsible and fashion forward.
