MANOLO BLAHNIK: A SHOE-IN FOR RODEO DRIVE WALK OF STYLE AWARD
Lucy Liu and Nicky Hilton Celebrate in Beverly Hills

“If God had wanted us to wear flat shoes, he wouldn’t have invented Manolo Blahnik”
Sarah Jessica Parker and her TV alter Carrie Bradshaw helped put famed footwear designer Manolo Blahnik on the style map. Now the latitude and longitude for sophisticated shoes point to the intersection of Rodeo Drive and Dayton Way. For his lifetime body of work which spans more than 30 years, Manolo was honored with the Walk of Style Award on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, California.
“It’s a great honor for me to have a place in Hollywood - for people here to see what I do,” Blahnik says. “I’ve supplied shoes for millions of movies, but I have designed specifically for only two or three.”
Blahnik collaborated on Sofia Coppola’s 2006 film Marie Antoinette, creating a confectionary scene of delectable shoe eye candy.

But more memorable, of course, is the one-of-a-kind “Something Blue” heels - those famous blue satin pumps with the glitzy pilgrim buckles - that the shoe king designed for the cinematic stroll through the designer-label closet that is the Sex and the City movie. Says event co-chair Peri Ellen Berne:
“Manolo was a natural, really. His designs have been all over the place - on celebrities and the people who covet them. He has an amazing balance between sexy and elegance that make his shoes very distinctive.”
His award predecessors are an impressive group of fashion maestros, including: Giorgio Armani, Tom Ford, Donatella and Gianni Versace, and Salvatore Ferragamo.

In addition to Dirty Sexy Money star Lucy Liu, who presented Blahnik with his award, 400 guests were on hand to view an exhibition of his classic shoes from Marie Antoinette, the Brit TV show “Absolutely Fabulous,” “Sex and the City,” and sketches of his shoes, including collaborations with designers like John Galliano.
With all the fabulously Manolo-heeled fashionistas in attendance, guests could also see his designs just by glancing down while nibbling on hors d’oeuvres. Bright heels might be the current trend but basic black was the day’s color of choice.

Liu’s Manolos were elegant with a touch of avant-garde - embellished with jewel detail on the side. “Dignity” pop star Hilary Duff rocked a slingback bootie, accessorized with a bright red pedicure that gave her somewhat conservative outfit a vamp-y vibe, while heiress Nicky Hilton was long and leggy in a studded Rocca ankle cuff sandal, very reminiscent of Madonna’s glam rock boots in Desperately Seeking Susan.
Manolo’s Walk of Style Award merely affirms what millions of devotees already know: he is a high heel god for the sexy and sophisticated glamour gal.

We likey these Anne Klein “Ccianna” heels. Very ab fab to wear to a SACTM viewing party - but only if there are cosmos, naturally.
Celeb Baby Boom: The ShoeMinx Baby Shoe Special
Shiloh, Suri and Violet: Diamonds on the Soles of Their Shoes
The Casual Baby Chic of Shiloh Jolie-Pitt
There’s no doubt that these kids hit the genetic jackpot. They might as well have diamonds on the soles of their shoes. Despite being kid-millionaires, the trend in celebrity baby dressing is to keep it casual, keep it real.
ShoeMinx actually suspects Brad participates more in Shiloh’s wardrobe choices. She’s a very well-dressed baby - nothing too cutsie, nothing too girly. She often looks like she’s ready to hit the cricket pitch or the softball mound. Her clothes look “baby-cozy” as they should, nothing too fussy, nothing that reeks of a Victoria Beckham Fairy Godmother having her way. That is to say, Shiloh doesn’t look professionally “styled” - it looks like she’s going to have a great time being a kid.
Shiloh’s brown shoes are Robeez Classic Brown and are on special here.

We especially like it when Brad takes Shiloh’s style old school, to compliment Daddy’s soft spot for his fedoras and vintage cut golf shirts. These Baby Vans are positively-heart-stoppingly-over-the-top ADORABLE! We love this image of Shiloh with her little “paw” up in the air, exposing the cool detail of the non-slip rubber sole.

The Little Princess Look of Suri Cruise

Suri has great style instincts. She’s working and for the moment “owning” the toddler runway as if her tween years depended on it. She dresses like she’s being analyzed - always perfectly on message for the occasion. We all remember the July 4th Independence Day Photo Op.
Tom and Katie often play matchy-matchy with Suri, which somehow seems to work. She already seems tall for her age (she’ll thank Katie for that as opposed to Papa Napoleon Complex) and cashmere wool jackets don’t look ridiculous on her as she’s tapered enough to carry them well. How hilarious is this post? We’re talking about svelte toddler silhouettes! ShoeMinx needs a drink.
Suri’s sweet little gold metallic strap baby sandals are available here.
When it comes to baby shoes, Suri knows it’s all about security. They have to stay on, protect the foot, provide support. And they have to look fabulous. The best baby shoes are non-slip, and of course, they don’t dare pinch the delicate baby foot fat. Yes, there are brands that are known to “pinch” and babies are just not down with that. Who needs a hissy fit when all you need is the perfect set of shoes?
These shoes are on sale here and are ideal for keeping baby happy and wail-free.
Violet Affleck Can’t Wait for Celebrity Baby Camp

Violet’s look is all about action. She’s ready to play. She’s ready to scale a hill. She’s ready to rappel off a building just like her action hero mom in Alias. Violet’s lucky that her Ma was a way more successful action hero than her Pop (Daredevil, yikes!) She looks like she’s already up with girl power by the look of her “power tyke” style.

We love the show biz parka paired with striped leggings and lime green hoodie. This look is just awesome.
Violet’s superhero shoes are available in a variety of sizes here.

And of course, what celebrity childhood is complete without Crocs? Violet’s in the know, thumping around in the cutest baby adaptation of an adult trend. This is one case when the kids look way cooler wearing the trend than their parents.
