Vanessa Hudgens is the darling of High School Musical. The one with the nude-photo scandal. Yes, now you remember. She’s also not in high school. And while her boyfriend Zac is off making movies (cue the deafening squeals of preteen girls), she’s trying to prove herself as something more than, well, Zac Efron’s sometimes-costar/current-girlfriend. So she stopped by TRL to debut a new single. We can’t say the tune helps her case for an adult career (“Sneakernight”?!), but her fashion choices are making us pay attention.

Remember when plaid meant cutesy jumpers? And then Clueless came out and plaid translated as super-popular rich-kid fashion staple? Well, this is the next generation: the sexy, grown-up schoolgirl.
