Lauren Conrad Versus Lo Bosworth: Halloween Costume Showdown
The Hills Costume Drama Continues

The Halloween fun does not stop for me when the Fab holiday is over. This year it’s all about the ladies in red. This is a fine example of two friends coordinating costumes, but doing completely different ideas. Lauren perfectly embodies a flapper, but her color choices aren’t typical. Nice. She lightened things up with a white fringed dress, gold metallic sandals, and a dramatic feather hairpiece. Lo looks super cute too, in a classic red cape and dress, though her shoes could have been more festive. However, her props take Little Red Riding Hood to the next level. Which costumed Hills blonde gets your vote?
We’d like to offer up these Taryn Rose oxfords as a sexier alternative to Lo’s beige pumps.

Zac Efron to Cut Footloose in Movie Remake
Six Degrees of . . . Zac Efron?

Let’s hear it for the boy! In another frenzy of Hollywood remaking, High School Musical franchise star Zac Efron will kick off his Sunday shoes and cut Footloose in an update of the classic 80s flick. The “Disney Boy Wonder” will play Ren McCormack, originally portrayed by Kevin Bacon, after movie bigwigs were impressed by the incredible success of his latest film High School Musical 3. And his awesome abs. The film’s $42 million take its opening weekend set a new record, unlikely to be beaten anytime soon, for the biggest box office opening for a movie musical, like, ever.
To capitalize on Efron’s popularity with the Tiger Beat set, Paramount rushed to greenlight the redux to the front of the production line to start filming in spring 2009. Vanessa Hudgen’s BF is also getting a very adult deal, a mid-seven-figure salary and script approval. What, no contract clause for his own on-call personal hairstylist and spray tanner?
“The challenge is always, ‘how do you approach that without remaking the film to a ‘T,’” said Zac. “I’m not worried about that, because I don’t think I could do what Kevin Bacon does in the film. I’m gonna try to do something different, [but] equally exciting.”

That “something different” includes reworking the original music-heavy flick into a full blown movie musical. In an act of utter cinematic sacrilege, the studio plans to jazz up the soundtrack with some newly penned tracks. But many of the VH1 classic hits like Kenny Loggin’s title tune “Footloose,” “Almost Paradise” and “Holding Out for a Hero” are expected to survive the chopping block, along with a cheesy dance montage or two.
Zacquisha has definitely got the “romantic musical” genre down pat, but he might want to take a pass on the next musical that comes his way. Seriously, four musicals in two years? Not quite the WWJDD (What Would Johnny Depp Do?) script to transition from tween heartthrob to adult thesp in big-boy roles.
Bacon has given Efron’s reprisal thumbs up but the teenybopper has some big shoes to fill. Who knows, perhaps Efron will follow in Kevin Bacon’s footsteps and we’ll one day be playing “Six Degrees of Zac Efron.” (In case you are wondering, you can link Bacon to Efron through Queen Latifah. She starred with Kevin in Beauty Shop and she also stars with Zac in Hairspray.)
