Miley Cyrus: “Miles To Go” In Totally Tween Appropriate Tall Boots

Now If She’d Just Find An Equally Acceptable Boyfriend . . .

Determined to milk every money-making opportunity out of their PG-rated star before her audience hits puberty, Disney princess Miley Cryus has extended her brand and added another title to her resume—author.  Yes, the just-turned-16 year old Hannah Montana star has penned her autobiography, Miles to Go.  She shares her “inspiring story, spanning from her Southern roots in Tennessee to the excitement of her record-setting triumphs.”  The best part is the “novel” is even equipped with doodles! Wonder if this is reflective of Justin’s maturity level, too?  Miley must be saving the chapter about how bummed she was that she got a hand-me-down Porsche for her birthday for the follow-up.  In short, WAAAAH.

But the book’s 272 pages aside, the mature- beyond-her-years triple threat is caught in that awkward teen/young adult stage. Miley usually outfits herself in looks that are either cloyingly twee, like her Ariel “Under the Sea” Oscar dress (gee, why not just stamp “Property of Disney, Inc.” on her forehead?) or way too mature like an aging soap opera star.  But she gets it 100% age appropriate at a Barnes & Noble book signing in jeans and a white t-shirt with a sparkly vest and scarf, paired with a totally cute pair of brown tall boots, like this ‘Frye’ style by Victoria.  Victory in our time!

And with her face scrubbed free of its normal layer of paint and her hair in loose waves, we suddenly find ourselves wanting to put on a Team Miley t-shirt and start rooting for her to keep beating the Jonas Brothers in their Mouse House tweendom battle.

Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, Jennifer Hudson, Kate Beckinsale: 2009 Grammy Style Stand-outs

This Year’s Red Carpet More WTF Than WOW

More Converse than couture, the Grammy red carpet is known for its memorable, over-the-top fashions.  Who can forget Jennifer Lopez’s infamous bare-to-there green Versace dress and her judicious use of double-stick tape?  But among the sea of crazy and underwhelming looks this year, it kind of says it all that Macy Gray’s wickity-wack “Buy My Record” dress would have been a welcome improvement.

And before anyone jumps on us for picking rapper M.I.A.’s photo to illustrate our “WTF” point, yes, we know that the crazy-town confection is in keeping with her signature look.  And yes, we know that she probably picked something short for easy birthing (she’s preggers, like due at any moment preggers), but still this is a whole lotta look for such an itty-bitty girl.  Maybe it’s hormones.

But we digress.  In a montage of one “for the love of fashion, what is she wearing?” look after another, some stars and their stylists stepped it up and rocked their frocks.

BFFs Taylor Swift and Hannah Montana’s Miley Cyrus paired up on the red carpet before their on-stage duet of “Fifteen,” a track from Taylor’s album Fearless.  Instead of friendship bracelets, they opted for matching black dresses. Miley was surprisingly mature but not mumsy in a one-shoulder Max Azria with a very Carrie Bradshaw-esque floral flourish, perhaps to distract attention away from her latest scandal.

While Taylor - not a sparkle or a sequin in sight! -  donned a Kaufman Franco dress with an almost scandalous plunging neckline.  All the better to show Joe Jonas what he’s missing.

After her triumphant return to the “Spotlight” with a rousing performance at the Superbowl, Jennifer Hudson continues her comeback streak of awesome in a daring three-tone, Roland Mouret Trenet cocktail length dress.  And a standing O for pairing the look with a contrast-y Christian Louboutin Declic suede pump.

E! red carpet co-host, reality-star Kim Kardashian showed that reading cue cards is, like, really hard you guys.  Hitting the picture-perfect red carpet pose is definitely more her forte.  Kim’s silvery dress is short and sassy and she gets  props for rocking the PERFECT shoe, a sublime pair of silver Christian Louboutin Fortuna slingbacks.

Kate Beckinsale wowed in a black Reem Arca gown that was a perhaps a little too Oscar-y but hey, when you’re presenting an award to fellow Brit and music legend Paul McCarthy you want to step it up a notch or two.  And she’s KATE BECKINSALE for heaven’s sake.  She can do no wrong.

Sarah Bareilles’ Valentine-pink Louisa Beccaria dress is just as sweet as her  Grammy nominated “Love Song.  And her red accents, especially the divine red peep-toes are just j’adorable.

And not that we’re taking sides or anything, but Lance Armstrong is an idiot.  His ex, multiple Grammy award winner Sheryl Crow, gives hope to women of a certain age everywhere in a banging, metallic-blue dress and ankle-wrap heels. Suddenly we’re feeling the need for a round of cardio.  Or three.

Silver is the new black.  A sexy silver shoe, like these Jessica Bennett heels, is the perfect finish to almost any outfit.
