Batman The Dark Knight: The First Celebrity Pics from the Summer’s Hottest Movie
Christian Bale and Maggie Gyllenhaal Joined by Co-Stars
on the Black Carpet

The cast of the latest installment in the Batman franchise turned out in their “black carpet” finest for The Dark Knight premiere last night in New York City. This is by far the most hotly anticipated summer blockbuster of 2008.
The absence of Heath Ledger dominated world premiere last night, amid increased speculation that his performance as the Joker could be up for an Oscar next February.
The traditional red carpet was black in the late actor’s honour, while his co-stars, including Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Aaron Eckhart, Morgan Freeman and Maggie Gyllenhaal, wore dark outfits. While the cast was posed for photographers outside the IMAX cinema, Ledger’s relatives quietly slipped into the venue. Crowds of die-hard fans thronged the theatre on Manhattan’s 68th street, to the point where they shut down traffic over one block during rush hour.

British director Christopher Nolan has given the absolutely stunning sequel a predatory glamor. Ledger offers a hauntingly complex and mesmerizing performance, while Bale captivates as the hero riddled with a blinding inner conflict.
Despite the moratorium on flirty and light red carpet regalia, Lauren Conrad still manages to exploit her place on the coveted black carpet by wearing a dress that is so unworthy of this premiere. She looks like a one of those annoying perfume-spritzer models at the Bergdorf Goodman Fragrance Counter.

On the other hand, ShoeMinx LOVES Blake Lively working the gold pumps in a demure, black-carpet appropriate ensemble. Maggie and Blake definitely hit the high style marks when dressing for this momentous occasion. Lauren, not so much.

Lauren Conrad: When Reality TV has Consumer Fall Out
The Hills Star is a Designer-in-the-Making, but How Does Her Style Stack up?
The Hills (AKA An annoying MTV show about a bunch of parasitic rich kids cheating on each other) has unfortunately afforded dilettantes like Lauren Conrad a coveted spot on the LA Fashion Week Schedule.
But, you should all know, the firm that makes her clothes specializes in making bad, bad clothes plastered with logos. To get Lauren her current clothing line, MTV execs approached Steve Friedman, the owner of Tangerine Promotions in suburban Chicago. The firm specializes in “tchotchkes, trinkets and trash” with company logos, he says, and MTV is one of his biggest clients. Although Tangerine has no experience in contemporary women’s apparel, Mr. Friedman agreed to team up with MTV. ShoeMinx sees this as a most unholy alliance, fleecing MTV-addicted teens of their recreational income allowance.

As for Lauren’s own fashion sense, it’s dubious at best. We can see she’s practiced this “I’m a whirly ballerina crossing my feet ever so delicately” pose at home in front of the mirror since she was, like, 7.
According to Lauren (from her website laurenconrad.com) she chose to wear these Jimmy Choo Metallic Juliet Sandals because “a special night calls for a special shoe”. Well, it seems Lauren had several “special nights” as she was photographed in this same shoe twice.
