Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, Sheryl Crow: Stars Look Chic as They Shiver At “We Are One” Concert

We The People Gathered to Ba-Rock The Mall at Lincoln Memorial Concert

What’s a little cold weather when you’re asked to perform for president-elect Barack Obama.  Braving Washington’s winter weather, Hollywood’s hottest stars bundled up to support Barack Obama. Looking more like a MTV awards show (or should that be YouTube since MTV hasn’t shown a video in forever?) or Oscar party than the traditionally stodgy political pre-party, the assembled star power for the HBO “We Are One” concert turned the Lincoln Memorial into the inaugural countdown capital.

Dropping what may be a subliminal hint about The Dress for Tuesday’s inaugural ball, Michelle Obama was bundled up beautifully in a caramel colored coat and matching skirt made by Narciso Rodriguez, the same designer whose red and black Election Night dress was debated more than the results of the Minnesota senate race.  And as has become her signature, Mrs. O dressed up the classically-tailored look with some flourishes, including a jeweled sweater, a killer pair of dangling earrings (trend alert!) and pointy-toe pumps.

Forget the long-johns and ear muffs.  The stars didn’t skive off fashion for warmth.

Concert performers included:  Beyonce, U2, Garth Brooks, Sheryl Crow, Josh Groban, Herbie Hancock, Heather Headley, John Legend, John Mellencamp, Usher, Shakira, Bruce Springsteen, James Taylor, will.i.am, and Stevie Wonder.

“Put a Ring on It” singer Beyonce left Sasha Fierce and Gareth Pugh at the hotel, opting for a military-inspired suede jacket with black embroidery and beading, black leather leggings and Stella McCartney black, curved-heel wedge boots.  Ignoring the White House’s request to keep it under wraps, she tooted her own horn and announced that she would be singing “At Last” for the next First Couple’s first dance.  Can you say “audit?” Here’s hoping that she gets — and reads — the memo telling her not to overdress for the ball.  It’s Michelle’s Cinderella moment, B.

Also sporting leather leggings and black boots, “Hips Don’t Lie” singer Shakira, who belted out “Higher Ground” with “Love in the Club” R&B popster Usher and legend Stevie Wonder.  Lincoln + leather leggings?  In an election of firsts, sure, why not.

Leave it to hip-hop fashion plate Mary J. Blige to make a statement in winter white.  She rocked her rendition of Lean on Me in an all-white ensemble, accessorized with a killer pair of tall snakeskin boots and ultra-high heels.  Don’t you think her song “No More Drama” would have been a more fitting pick for the media-dubbed “No Drama” Obama?

Staying true to her rocker-chick roots, “All I Wanna Do” singer Sheryl Crow kept in casual cool in a fringed jacket with an Obama Tee, jeans and bitchin’ studded leather boots, similar to these ‘Bette’ boots from Harley Davidson.

Also participating in the event:  Denzel Washington, Forest Whitaker, Tiger Woods Jack Black, Steve Carell, Rosario Dawson, Jamix Foxx, Tom Hanks, Ashley Judd, Queen Latifah, Laura Linney, George Lopez, Marisa Tomei, and others.

The swearing-in ceremony of Barak Obama as the 44th president of the United States takes place in less than 12-hours.  Where will you be?
