Barack Obama: The Senator Who Inspired the “Yes We Can” Shoes

Presidential Candidate Obama Keeps it Real at the Bowling Alley

ShoeMinx likes the look of the Senator’s stance. Barack Obama is great at working the “action” photo op. His face is now the ultimate trademark for the idea of change. In this photo, it looks like he definitely has his eyes on the prize.

In honor of Obama’s style on the bowling lane, ShoeMinx shopped for the most fabulous bowling shoes on the market and arrived here, at the Gucci “bowling” shoe:

Trendy clothing chain Urban Outfitters stocks T-shirts that read “Obama for yo Mama” and “Barack ‘n’ Roll.” This is a whole lot more marketable than a “Vote ‘08″ T-shirt sporting a fat red elephant.

As far as retailers and street vendors in New York City are concerned, Barack Obama is a cult hero in the vanguard tradition of Jimi Hendrix or Che Guevara because like those youth icons, he is being marketed as a fashion statement.

ShoeMinx has seen aprons, T-Shirts, socks and even women’s underwear thongs. Such rah-rah “merch” is being sold online at unprecedented levels. Our favorite collectible is, of course, the “Yes We Can” running shoe.

Will Obama’s popularity in the fashion world will translate into victory in November?
