Kelly Rutherford: Gossip Girl Star is a Drama Queen On and Off-Screen
Divorce Drama Overshadows CW Series Spinoff

Oh my god, did you hear the latest gossip? Kelly Rutherford’s character on Gossip Girl, Serena’s mom Lily van der Woodsen, is getting a spinoff. According to the Hollywood Reporter:
The spinoff will center on young Lily Rhodes (her maiden name) who, after a falling out with her parents, is forced to move in with her sister, the black sheep of the Rhodes family. Overnight, Lily has to transition from a life of luxury and education at a wealthy Montecito boarding school to living deep in the San Fernando Valley she once made fun of and going to public school. Caught between two worlds, Lily dives into the fast-paced Sunset Strip and the Hollywood lifestyle of the ’80s, journeying over the hill to a world of wealth and excess that used to be her own.
Eventually, Lily meets rocker Rufus and has a fling that results in her secret pregnancy. So kind of like Lilly Does HeadBangers Ball.
But that’s nothing compared to Kelly’s own real-life drama.

In a prime-time-soap-opera-worthy plot twist, the small screen vet, who happens to be expecting her second child, filed for divorce from her millionaire hubby, citing the clichéd “irreconcilable differences.” Guess she’s working on her own spinoff, too: as a single mum. Adding to the already way-past-acrimonious he said, she said split, Kelly filed emergency papers to ban her German soon-to-be ex from leaving the country, saying she fears he may try to disappear with their two-year old son. Not even Aaron Spelling, the granddaddy of manufactured marital mayhem, could have written a juicer script.
Meanwhile back in TV land: baby drama continues as Lily and Rufus search for their love child while GG creators get ready to spawn the second “Gossip” series that will serve as a prequel to the sophomore drama, which will air on May 11. We can’t wait for the collision of the present-day Uptown Girl and her “Welcome to the Jungle” groupie past. Radical! But let’s hope stonewash jeans stay in the fictional 80s world were they belong and out of Barneys.

Bring the drama in these gorgeous Guiseppe Zanotti sandals with tear-drop crystal accents.

Brad Pitt, Renee Zellweger, Zac Efron, Claire Danes Descend on Toronto in Style
Giuseppe Zanotti Scores with Our First Fetish Shoe of the Week

The Toronto International Film Festival is in full swing, with Hollywood’s major players taking over the city. While it would be impossible to list all of the A-listers in town, we’ll just say that everyone who’s anyone (read: Brad Pitt and friends) is making the festival-party circuit, decked out in style and showing off their newest cinematic masterpieces.
For some, the festival is a bit of a coming-out party. The likes of Dakota Fanning and Zac Efron are showing off roles that aim to transition them from novelty child/teen actors to ones worthy of adult critical acclaim. Zac hit the red carpet with Claire Danes, his costar in “Me and Orson Welles.” Considering Claire successfully made the jump from teen actor to critical darling, it’s probably wise he keep her close. And apart from his HSM castmates, he’s looking rather non-boyish. Perhaps it was his proximity to Gerald Butler at the after party.
Speaking of men (and really, what is celeb-spying without a little eye candy?), Brad Pitt arrived in Toronto and the city stood still. We jest. Slightly. Here to promote the Coens’ first post-Oscar offering, “Burn After Reading,” he walked the red carpet with John Malkovich (also in town to promote “Afterwards”) and the magnificent Tilda Swinton. We love her use of this season’s statement jewelry. Alas, no sign of Angelina and the twins. In case you were wondering.
Elsewhere, Viggo Mortensen arrived at the “Appaloosa” premiere alongside costar Renee Zellwegger. And both looked remarkably better than we’ve seen them in a while. We love Renee’s metallic pumps with her bell-sleeved LBD. And we love Viggo. Period.
But the Best Dressed award thus far goes to Thandie Newton at the premiere of Guy Ritchie’s “RocknRolla.” Wearing a bold floral mini by Matthew WIlliamson and statement Giuseppe Zanotti shoes, she knows how to stand out in a city full of loud personalities. Well played, Thandie.
Get your own pair of Guiseppe Zanottis here, hike up your hemline, and head to Toronto!

Stay tuned to ShoeMinx. There’s plenty more festival action to come….
