Anne Hathaway & Amy Adams: Oscar A-listers Get An “F” For Frumpy Fashion
But There’s No Doubt, Their Louboutins are Fantastic!
Ladies, we totally understand. Awards season has been a fashion sprint of gowns and cocktail dresses, up-dos and side-ponies, and trends from every season. You haven’t eaten carbs in over a month and if you have to go to one more fitting you’ll probably go postal and shove some one’s head into a pair of Spanx. We get it. But that still does not excuse what amounts to the sartorial equivalent of sweat pants.
This is style unbecoming of two Oscar nominees:

After a stellar red carpet outing at the SAG Awards, Rachel Getting Married star Anne Hathaway shows clear signs of fashion fatigue at the Oscars Nominee luncheon in a blah-on-blah Chloe embroidered dress that’s giving a serious “grandma’s sofa pattern” vibe. We’re really, really hoping that she’s saving THE dress for the Oscars. Nice shoes, but not even Christian Louboutin can rescue this outfit from its descent into Dullesville.

Doubt star Amy Adams takes a hiatus from her all-black, all-the-time fetish at the DGA Awards in a Jasmine Di Milo dress with silver and nude sequin details, paired with Christian Louboutin Fortuna silver slingbacks. On the one hand, it’s nice to see the fiery redhead in something outside of her style safety zone. But on the other, a shimmery sheath of meh is not necessarily an improvement. Now, we’re not saying she has to go all big bold and color contrast-y like fellow red-head Evan Rachel Wood, but even a hint of a hue that is distinguishable from her skin color would be fab.

Newbie Slumdog Millionaire’s Freida Pinto may not be nominated for an individual award but she’s TOTALLY owning the style crown at the moment (it probably helps that she’s a former model but still kudos where they are due).
With stylists going mano y mano to snag one of those so-haute-they-aren’t-even-available-in-boutiques dresses that walked in Couture Week, we’re counting on Anne and Amy to rebound and treat us to some exquisitely pricey dresses, enough bling to make rappers swoon and some credit card worthy heels. Just under a week to go then you can carbo load and bum around in Uggs and ripped jeans all you like.

Get your acceptance speech ready. These sparkly Alexander McQueen ‘Rope’ heels take glamour to another level. They just say “Oscar” don’t they?

Shania Twain is Giuseppe Zanotti Gorgeous at CMAs
Shows She’s Not Just a Pretty Face. And That Her Ex is An Idiot.

The reason why “looking good is the best revenge” is such a cliché? Because it’s so true. Case in point: Shania Twain. After dumping hubby Mutt Lange for allegedly cheating (the dog!) with a family friend, the country singer hit the CMA red carpet with her chin, and the girls, held high. After the stylish comeback of the likes of Sophia Bush and Anne Hathaway during her Get Smart press tour while her ex was getting sent down from the penthouse to the jailhouse, the red carpet is the place to be to get your chic revenge. Sure, looking good is its own reward, but it’s doubly good when you can rub it in someone else’s face.
In her first red carpet appearance since the split, Shania seems to be following her own musical advice: “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!” The chart-topping superstar showed off just what Mutt is missing in a cleavage-boosting sleeveless dress that bares oodles of sun-kissed skin, accessorized with loosely tussled hair that Cameron Diaz would envy and gorgeous Giuseppe Zanotti floral heels.

Further rubbing salt in Mutt’s soon-to-be single wounds, Shania earned a standing O when she took the stage to present the entertainer of the year award to Kenny Chesney in a low-cut Missoni gown. Bravo, indeed! Oh, congrats to you too, Kenny.
Look out Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift. The queen of cross-over country pop is gearing up for a comeback. Thanks for keeping the seat warm.
