Charlize Theron Poses in Puzzling Prada Shoes at Japan Movie Premiere
Avant-Garde or Just Ugly?

Monster star and Oscar-winner Charlize Theron is like the most popular girl from your high school. She’s the cheerleader, homecoming queen, president of the student council and A+ student all in one. And like all popular girls, Theron is always among the best dressed. Other than her unfortunate tanorexia incident at the Oscar’s, the former model is usually impeccably styled.

She’s been a virtual Vogue fashion plate for the Hancock promotional tour. In Japan with co-star Will Smith (can we take a minute and give Mr. Big Box Office a hell yeah?), Theron worked her stately glamour look faithfully in a longer, less rear-revealing version of the lace Prada dress Nicole Kidman sported on the red carpet pre-baby. So far, so good.
But here’s where it gets hinky. Theron completes her look with black-and-blue striped Prada heels with an odd Ace bandage looking strap thingy across the foot. ShoeMinx loves Prada but these shoes are just not cute with this dress. We know the bandage look is all the rage right now thanks to Herve Leger, but that shoe strap, combined with the black-and-blue motif, is perhaps too literal an interpretation.

For a shoe that’s more haute than huh, shop for these Trapeze heels from Oh Deer!

Obama’s Celebrity Circle: Charlize Theron, Ben Affleck, Spike Lee, Steven Spielberg and Sheryl Crow Party in Denver
A Star-Studded Democratic National Convention in Pictures

It looked like a Steven Spielberg casting session at the Democrats’ Denver festivities - nearly everyone with a SAG card dropped in for a photo op in Mile High City. Anne Hathaway gets cheeky for the cameras at the Google/Vanity Fair party with cohorts Susan Sarandon, Matthew Modine, Josh Lucas and Dana Delany. Meanwhile, Alan Cumming makes a punchy fashion statement.

The harmonic convergence of so many stars in Denver this week has lent this national convention an unprecedented vibe, particularly when it comes to socializing with a purpose. Jamie Foxx and Ashley Judd pose for pics in a party chock full of power brokers.

Among those mingling with the delegates were Steven Spielberg and wife Kate Capshaw, Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck, Kerry Washington, Jennifer Lopez, Rosario Dawson, Angela Bassett, Ashley Judd, Kirsten Dunst, Chevy Chase, Josh Brolin, Hill Harper, Fran Drescher and Annette Benning. We absolutely ADORE this photo of John Slattery and Jon Hamm of ShoeMinx’s Favorite New Show of the Season, Mad Men.

Meanwhile, an impressive group of A-list musicians made the convention seem like a weeklong music festival. At Invesco Field on Thursday night, Sheryl Crow, Stevie Wonder, John Legend and others warmed up the crowd for Barack Obama. Jennifer Hudson, the Oscar-winning star of “Dreamgirls,” sang the national anthem.

Kanye West’s concert at the EXDO Event Center was one of the week’s biggest hits. The singer was joined onstage by actor and radio host Jamie Foxx, who also happened to be broadcasting live from the convention hall. Meanwhile, in another part of the city, the Black Eyed Peas rocked the overflowing Fillmore Auditorium before an audience that included Jessica Alba, Hayden Panettiere and Tatyana Ali.
Rufus Wainwright captured the crowd with his haunting cover of Leonard Cohen’s classic “Hallelujah.” He dedicated it to Obama and “his beautiful wife, Michelle.” Back to more famous faces at the Google/Vanity Fair Affair, here we see Spike Lee, Tonya Lewis Lee, Lynn Whitfield and her daughter Grace.
At a Denver screening of her boyfriend Stuart Townsend’s directorial debut, Battle in Seattle, Charlize Theron looks healthy, happy, and mega stylish. There to show off Battle in Seattle as one of the political movie screenings in the Starz Green Room, Charlize huddled with Ben Affleck and Rosario Dawson. We’re sure this opinionated star had plenty to talk about with her fellow Democrats.
