Paris Does Vegas: Hilton Heiress Launches Fall Footwear Line at Macys
Paris Hilton Goes Heel-to-Heel with Fergie
Despite dating rocker Benji Madden and a brief baby bump blip, faux-lebrity Paris Hilton has been largely absent from the tabs as of late. So perhaps Hilton should have avoided scheduling her launch event on the same day that hip-hop princess Stacey “Fergie” Ferguson was debuting her own shoe line across town. Just a thought. Unless this is a clever ploy to create a mock heel-to-heel battle between the multi-hypenated celeb-designers for press attention and sales. In which case, let the showdown begin!

The “Hottie and the Nottie” heiress began her contractual promo duties at Sin City’s Macy’s department store posing for glamour shots on a chaise lounge and wearing a blue summer dress with gold heels (which we assume are from her line) and a matching clutch. And in true Paris style, the “Stars are Blind” party professional staged a second launch event at one of her favorite haunts, Pure Nightclub.
Though it pains us to say it, we have to give her props for wearing what appear to be her own shoes to both events, unlike Fergs. As Asos.com reported from Vegas,
“After arriving in a crisp white shift dress, white oversized sunglasses and a pair of beige Mary-Janes, the Fergalicious one quickly changed into a pair of tan strappy sandals from her range.”
That’s just bad PR when you’re pimping product. And if there’s one thing Paris does best it’s publicity.
While Fergie’s line is big on gladiators sandals and street gear, Paris’ shoes are pretty much what you would expect, namely heels and slingbacks. What you might not expect after her first collection is the notable absence of Barbie doll pink this time out. The color palate has been toned down for fall and features more muted hues. Prices are expected to run about $50 a pair for the starter styles.

Paris may have ruffled some fashion feathers with the blatant rip-off of Christian Louboutin and Te Casan in her first collection, but her shoes do offer more stylish options for fashionistas with less than dainty feet. A size-11 herself, she commented,
“Yeah, it sucks, because I see all these super cute shoes in the stores: Guccis, YSLs, Manolos. And when they bring them out in my size, they look like clown shoes.”
So which celeb line does ShoeMinx think will win wallet share? Fergie is tops on the Billboard chart, but Paris might have an edge in shoe sales, according to Kitson’s Do’s and Don’ts for Celebrity Designers. Plus, she must have a decent amount of merch to land a second collection. View the entire Paris Hilton debut collection here. Now all that has to happen is for Perez Hilton to get into the Pump Endorsing Business. He’s already trying to lock up flip-flops.
You tell us. Which line would you wear – Fergalicious or Paris Hilton?
High End Heels: Cate Blanchett’s $11,000 Roger Vivier Statement
Cate Blanchett Shows off her Swarovksi Crystal-Studded Pumps
Cate Blanchett was looking her party best in Australia last night for the Helpmann Awards which recognize artistic achievement in Australia’s live performance sectors.
But the showstopper of the night (ahem, besides her cleavage) was undeniably her shoes, setting the shoe-blogs ablaze today. ShoeMinx’s crack research staff has learned that she wore a pair of limited edition Roger Vivier heels with sequined star detail and Swarovski crystal buckles. These $11,000 ’heels of fortune’ were featured in a New York Post online video in the spring. The sales woman in the video seemed to think they were destined for a museum and not the red carpet.
Cate showed them off, showing up the production and making headlines around the world.
Helpmann Awards? Who cares.
But the Shoes. Now there’s news fit to print!!
