“The Wrestler” Star Marisa Tomei Goes From Style Foul to Fabulous

“The Wrestler” star and Oscar nominee Marisa Tomei has been away from the H’wood red carpet scene for a while so it’s not too surprising that there have been fumbles as she finds her fashion footing.

Avast ye maties.  Marisa’s “puffy shirt” might have worked for Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean.  But on the Golden Globes red carpet?  There’s a fine line between taking a fashion risk and looking ridiculous. Walk the plank!

At the Huffington Post Ball, The My Cousin Vinny actress wore a bubble hem dress that looks like a Project Runway challenge gone wrong.  As season four winner Christian Siriano would say:  It’s a hot mess.  She paired the look with black stockings and heels to coordinate against the cold.

After two strikes at the fashion plate, Marisa hits a high-fashion home run with a voluminous Giambattista Valli dress at the MTV and ServiceNation’s Be the Change: Live From the Inaugural Ball.  Look at how tiny her waist is!  Hate.  The boatneck and three-quarter sleeves are classic, while the structured full skirt still manages to grab attention. For all the right reasons. Now this is change we can believe in.  Unlike JLo who brought as many pairs of shoes as outfits to the gaggle of DC galas, Marisa double dipped, wearing the same black heels from the previous night to finish her Audrey Hepburn-esque look.

Dress up a black heel with a dazzling accent, like these Oscar-ready Giuseppe Zanotti peep-toes.
